Marcus Trower Memorial
The founder of the Brighton Brazilian Exchange and our dear friend, Marcus Trower, unfortunately passed away in June 2019. Join us in September to honor his memory by partaking in his favorite past time.
Marcus Trower was an avid grappler. It was a big part of his life. He was an author of the book “The Last Wrestlers” and founded the Brighton Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Exchange club. His mission was to make Jiu Jitsu affordable with no “politics”, and he succeeded in creating a small, but strong club where many of us made our first steps into a wonderful world of grappling. We want to celebrate his life and honour his memory. We think that the best way to do this by rolling. So, we are organising a Grapplethon on 14th September in Brighton.
The Grapplethon will last 10 hours. Everyone is welcome, regardless of club affiliation or level of experience. You can come and roll just for few rounds or try to do full 10 hours. Regardless, come and join us and have fun.
The event will raise money for Gozo Society for the Protection of Animals. Marcus lived on the island of Gozo where he was heavily involved in working for animal welfare, and the cats on the island held a special place in his heart. We will be asking people to pay any amount they see fit during their visit, and there will also be a raffle with prizes. You will also be able to pay into a gofundme link as well if you can’t attend the event but would like to contribute.
See you on the mats!
